This comic is somewhat based on reality: I really do have a Blackberry Playbook, and I like to eat cereal. Specifically, Corn Pops. Now, before I continue, there’s something you should know. I have an insatiable thirst for technology. All technology. I own an iPhone, and an Android phone, I own several PCs and a Mac, I have a Wii and an Xbox360, and I have a Nintendo DSi and a PSP. I don’t discriminate, and contrary to what Apple/Sony/Android zealots would have you believe, all these brands can live together in harmony. But I am not fond of the Playbook.
When I first used the Playbook, it was like trying to make your cat put on a magic show for your friends: awkward, and somewhat frustrating. Since then I’ve learned to accept some of its limitations. For example, don’t expect Google Maps to work. Or the ability to VPN to any of Microsoft’s VPN connection types (PPTP, L2TP/IPSec). You can’t do that. And I’ve accepted its sluggish touch response, and constant re-rendering during fast scrolling on a webpage. I’ve also accepted that the 7″ screen is just too small to be of any use for anything but an LCD picture frame. Yes, I’m a very accepting person. I can only hope RIM will be so accepting, when I write them a strongly worded letter.
And just so you know, all that hype about the Playbook being able to run Android apps was a lie. I mean, I’m sure it will be able to, “someday.” But that really doesn’t mean anything to me. I mean, I’m sure that “someday” this thing will find its way into the garbage, or possibly on a plane to a 3rd world country, where they can use it to shovel cow shit and patch their leaking roof.
Amazing. I just got a iPad at work for testing things, and I’m not sure I like it. On the opposite end of the spectrum of your 7″ screen, this thing seems unwieldy and large, and without any kind of stand or case, it’s awkward to hold and type on.
I feel like a giant trying to play a child’s piano.
Well, good luck. At the very least you can use it to smash a store window and get something better.

I agree with you completely, on all accounts. I own almost one of everything, but after playing with the Playbook for a half an hour and being more frustrated than a monkey trying to eat a picture of a banana on a digital screen… This device is utterly useless and frustrating and a failure. The lack of intuitive interactions means only the hardiest people will survive the first couple days and then there will be a cult following chastising all us non-believers. …. … and that’s when the Blackberry Jihad will start…
